Conversations
My purpose in writing is to encourage you, Grannies and others, to talk with your children, and each other, about Jesus and how HE is the answer to a good life. Have conversations with your loved ones about Christian love, Christian forgiveness, and Christian Faith.
Going through Covid has increased the specific issues that I want to discuss with you. A fellow Toastmaster gave a speech expressing that he felt guilty going to the grocery store. “This is not MY America! I am FREE!” His evaluators cautioned him to not get political! After the meeting, he and I shared our reactions to their comments. We were stunned!! We can follow the guidelines, but we don’t accept the restriction of our 1st Amendment rights.
In my speech, I called the virus the Chinese virus. That’s what it was labeled in the news. I was told I should leave off the “Chinese” because I might offend the people from China who live in our country. Fact: the virus originated in China.
How political am I?? I retired one year early (2013) because the Chinese bought the company where I worked. I WAS NOT GOING TO WORK FOR THE CHINESE!!
Included in our current “daily lives” is the mix of “Black Lives Matter” and “Antifa”, and yet we are cautioned, “Do not make your Covid behavior political”. It is political when people who wear a Trump cap or an OAN tee shirt are verbally, physically, or financially abused by these groups. Do you know who is backing BLM and Antifa? Do you know where the money comes from? Do you know that most of the demonstrators are bused to the event and paid for their time?
I was raised in a “mixed family” – not racially mixed – politically mixed! My mother (who grew up in Detroit) and, eventually, my brother were liberals – government does it all. Daddy (who grew up on a farm) and I were conservatives – individual responsibility – no free rides. I thought I “couldn’t understand” politics; that stuff on TV didn’t make sense to me. I was 41 years old when I finally realized…it’s not me, it’s those “reporters” on TV. My husband found Rush Limbaugh and encouraged me to listen to him, too. YES! He supported Ronnie Reagan and conservative principles!! Refreshing! Enlightening! A Light in the darkness!
If you are one who listens to/watches ABC, CBS, NBC, and their news spinoffs, I BEG you…PLEASE…INVESTIGATE OTHER NEWS SOURCES! Fox News is leaning liberal; we have switched to OAN. Try One American News Network and Newsmax.
Read/listen to conservative news services such as In Primus, National Review, and The Heritage Foundation. Try speakers/writers such as Tucker Carlson, Peter Schweitzer, Graham Ledger, Dinesh D’Souza, Thomas Jefferson, Newt Gingrich, and…there’s always Rush. (web search “conservative speakers/writers”)
Just as it takes time for a new Christian to be able to accept “all the God stuff”, if you support “the major networks” it will take at least a couple weeks or more of steady attention to be able to accept what the conservatives and objective investigators are saying. I realize that you may not agree with conservative principles, but just know, they are based on God and Country.
My friends, have conversations with your kids and grandkids as they are young, as they grow, as they are ready to vote, as they have families of their own. Remind them:
…the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over His kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. Isaiah 9:6-7
Let’s prepare our families for His Reign.
