I am a child of The Almighty God

Lynne Bradley-Horan

From Toastmasters to Jesus

I joined Toastmasters in 2001 at the age of 53 – because I’m a ham! I enjoy being silly and making people laugh. I now call myself, The
Collector of Smiles.
Toastmasters is an organization which helps members to grow in self confidence by honing communication and leadership skills. At Club meetings we practice leading a meeting and presenting speeches – our own words expressed in a concise way with supporting body language.
Who knew! In 2003 a young Christian evangelist, Michelle Wise, joined our Club. Every time she talked it was about Jesus – one Jesus Speech after another! I didn’t want to hear about Jesus!
Toastmasters learn how to communicate with
everyone – even those with whom we disagree. We listen for structure, we think about the content, and we watch for body language. We do not evaluate the topic – therefore, I had to listen! Was her speech well organized? Did her information support her purpose? Did she look like she meant what she said?
Her passion went straight to my heart! The Sweet Jesus Speaker and I became good friends and Sisters in Christ. I began a relationship with Jesus, I joined her church, and now, I am the evangelist! I’m the one presenting “Jesus Speeches”!
Oh yes, I’m still a Toastmaster, almost 20 years later. “Create a BLOG” is a project in my  educational path –  Presentation Mastery.
Not only do Toastmasters learn to speak and lead well, we learn to write well! I’m now a BLOGGER!!
My Mission : Encourage and inspire Grannies (current and future) to guide your kids and grandkids into a relationship with Jesus – for a life that is well blessed. Our Country needs you. Our kids need you. You GO,
Grannie!

Full Disclosure – I Am Not A Grannie

Sing, barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband,” says the Lord.  Is 54:1, repeated in Gal 4:27 (NIV)

I never bore a child, but, yes, my children are m-a-n-y. It’s even more so, the older I get. Younger folks seem to listen a little longer these days, they seem to come to me for advice, and they really laugh when I start making “funnies”.

My audience is really any woman who has, or would like to have, faith in Jesus Christ. She is a woman who wants the children of America to grow up knowing why we have this country in the first place – that our country is based on a solid Christian foundation. She is setting aside the P.C. fear of “speaking the Truth”. She wants to boldly step out. She will “Stand-For-and-On The Promises of Christ Our Savior”.

My Toastmaster Family

Toastmaster Family

Every Toastmaster is a member of a club, somewhere in the world – we’re international. Many of us have been a member for 5, 10, or more years. Within our Clubs we develop supportive, social relationships that bring us together like a special family – one in which you can choose your relatives!

A secondary reason for this BLOG project is to inspire Grannies to encourage the young adults in their families to check out Toastmasters.

Young people today use their thumbs more than their tongues

Interpersonal communication (verbal) is still of vital importance.

The only Toastmaster membership requirement is a minimum age of 18 years. That’s it!

At my club, North Kent Community in Rockford, Michigan, we have had a couple college students among our members. Each has done very well in college and beyond due to solid interview skills.  One young man interviewed for an intern position. He didn’t get it; he got a higher level position – due to his communication skills!

Our education programs are online.  Many projects are outside the club. Check us out!  www.Toastmasters.org
