Child of God

My First Second Chance

I Am a Child of God Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.  John 1:12

I Live in the JOY of Jesus Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy. 1 Peter 1:8

Holy Spirit Is My Healer Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.  John 16:7 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”  1 Peter 2:24

It was a Monday morning, February, 2010. I was in the shower, getting ready for work. I suddenly lost control of my bowels!!  What!?!  The doctor would be available at 3pm; in the meantime, go to bed.

I had nearly no blood pressure; my oxygen level was dangerously low.  The doctor sent me to the ER. It was determined that I had pneumonia?!?  Even the strongest the oxygen mask was insufficient for me. I needed a ventilator.

I told Thomas The Big Guy, spouse, “See you later” and they “put me out”. Occasionally, I would “wake up”.  Michelle Wise, my fellow Toastmaster who guided me back to Jesus, visited frequently.  I  remember asking her if I had done something wrong — was God mad at me?  Oh no! God doesn’t do things like that. The enemy attacks.  God comforts and heals.

She prayed for me – in fact she had her entire church praying for me.  You see, the nurse had told her they were sure I “wouldn’t make it”. I was in ICU for seven days. When they woke me up the nurse asked me if I knew what day it was. I said, “Sure, it’s Tuesday!”  It was Sunday!!  I giggled! I thought she was teasing. I went to a regular room the next day and home the following day.

A few days later, the nurse from Rehab came to “schedule” me.  She would ask me questions, I would answer, she’d look at Thomas The Big Guy, he would agree with me, and the nurse would shake her head.  I was “fine” in all the tests — balance, strength, breathing, etc.  She said that my body responded to this episode like that of a 40-year old. (I was 63 at the time.) I said I didn’t need rehab — I had Holy Spirit!

I couldn’t wait to tell Michelle!  I began to visit her church with her; the rest is history.  I was Baptized in August, 2011, and joined Crossfire Church in December, 2011. I’ve served as the church bookkeeper since January, 2014.

I praise and thank The Lord for my full recovery!  That’s why I say:  I am a Child of God, I live in the Joy of Jesus, Holy Spirit is my Healer!
