We Are The Aroma

2 Corinthians 2:15a NIV
For we are the sweet fragrance of Christ [which exhales] unto God.

When Grandma Birdie hugged me, it was like nothing else I had ever experienced.
She smelled so sweet! I didn’t want her to let go.
Grandma had special talcum powder that she always used.
It gave her a fragrance like none other.
Sometimes I’d sneak into Grandma’s bedroom.
Avoiding the squeaky floor boards, I’d step slowly across the room to her dressing table.
There it was! The round box with a pattern in faded orange, light brown and white.
I would put my nose up to it and inhale, ever so gently.
An outer residue of the inner treasure would soothe me for a moment.
I didn’t dare lift the cover.
Grandma had shown me how it was on tightly to keep the powder fresh.
If I tried to pull it off too quickly, all of the fine powder would burst out and
spray me with the light dust from head to toe!
Oh no! We couldn’t waste the perfumed powder.
Just seeing the box made me want to hug Grandma Birdie even more —
longer and closer than ever before.

Pastor says that as the old woman poured the perfume on Jesus,
she prepared Him for The Father.
God loves the aroma of His sweet children.
He delights in the fragrance of our love.

As Grannies, we may each have a special fragrance of our own
which sweetens each time we hug a family member.
As Grannies for God, we can teach our grandchildren (and other family members)
How God loves the aroma of His faithful children.
As we go to God, and as He hugs us, the fragrance of our faith fills His nostrils with JOY!

AS WE ARE IN CHRIST, WE ARE A SWEET FRAGRANCE TO THE FATHER.
