Grannie Time With God
Do you have daily morning time with God?
When I was working (I retired in 2013) I thought, “I don’t have time for God before work!”
Bible teachers/pastors continued to tell of the blessings of “Quiet Time With Him”. Okay, I’ll try. I started by getting up half an hour earlier and sitting with coffee and my little devotional. I LIKED that! It started my day with a closeness to God.
Gradually I searched out new devotional authors. I spent more time in the morning, which meant setting the alarm for 5:00 so I could have a full hour with Him. By the time I retired, I couldn’t wait to have an “open-ended meeting” with Him each day. (He always gives us as much as we want.)
My routine became coffee and breakfast with Joyce Meyer, then a second cup of coffee with another teacher I had recorded – Joel Osteen, Jack Graham, Robert Morris. Next it’s time with my devotionals and my Bible. I call it “soaking in The Word”.
As this pandemic goes into the third month, I am comforted and energized by “Holy Spirit downloads”. For example, on Friday, March 13th, two days after I first heard the words – “social distancing”, throughout my God Time, every text I turned to encouraged me with Scripture and then narrative: “give me courage”, “singing in the Fire!”, “O Christ, thank You for claiming the whole of life.” “you need not be defeated by anything unless you consent to be.” That was the best “Friday the 13th” ever!! GOD RULES!!
The blessings of “quiet time” are precious. As a young person, I never knew I could have a relationship with God. Just as with any relationship, the more time I spend with Him, the closer to Him I feel. Now, more than ever, we need to Keep Jesus Close so we can Call Upon His Name in a moment’s notice.
Our families need our Faith to help them through this trouble. Share your Love of Our Lord (LOL) with them now and always. When we are Born Again, Jesus lives in us – He is our Friend Forever.
Remember, Stand On His Promises!
