JOY

J-O-Y

JESUS ONLY YOU! JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN – HE said so. Jesus is the mysterious, miraculous, mighty God, Son of the One God Most High, God of Heaven and Earth, THE HOLY ONE. We are indoctrinated to believe that everyone who dies is “in a better place”.  No!   JESUS is the door to Heaven. Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.  John 14:6 Jesus, The Son of God, Lived in Joy through The Holy Spirit At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.  Luke 10:21 And he said: “Truly I tell

Grannies For God

Tell Them A Story Most Grannies I know have a Kid Connection – some device of the internet communication system that allows one to both hear and SEE the person “on the other end”.  Checking in with the grand kids is comforting, nurturing, and loving. It’s what Grannies do — keeping up with the kids. Do you ever tell them stories?  Okay, maybe not “over the phone”, but what about when you’re together?  My mother used to tell us stories.  She made up a trio of three little teddy bears who came alive at night; they would go into the city and get into all kinds of trouble.  The only story I remember is the time they went to the laundromat…but…I digress. Think about it, Grannies.  Stories stick with us.  They teach us that in Toastmasters!  They also teach us that in Church.  What did Jesus do?  He told stories!!

Little By Little

We change just by knowing Jesus.  When we ask Jesus to be our Savior, HE is “All In”, but it usually takes us more time to change.  Here is a story of a definite intervention that was a s-l-o-w change. Sports Illustrated Magazine had an annual swimsuit issue. Twenty years ago, or so, they promoted a video of all the new “beach wear”.  I decided to get a video for my husband, who had just turned 60. I remember giggling with the person on the phone that my husband had a “healthy heart”, so I was sure it was safe to give it to him. Upon arrival, I secretly opened the video and reviewed it — just to see how stimulating it would be for the “old fella”.  I was shocked!  It was naked women in sexual activities singly and with each other!  However, the more I watched, the more

Turning Point

Turning Point Michelle Marie and Me My Grandma Birdie and Grandma Chloe planted in my soul, the precious seeds of the Love of Jesus. Sometimes I kept the seeds in the dark, sometimes I gave them light, and sometimes I even watered and nurtured them!  It wasn’t I met Michelle Wise at Toastmasters, that I turned from living in the world, to living as a Believer. I’ll explain. As a kid, I was always sick – usually with a cold.  I was always unhappy.  As a teen, at night I would stare at the moon out my bedroom window  and cry; I wanted to be loved. My Grandmas would hug me and remind me that Jesus loves me – He wants the best for me – talk with Him and He will guide me through it. (Grandma Birdie died when I was 13.) I dropped out of college during my

Wait a Minute!

It’s too much, LORD!!  Too much garden! Too much church bookkeeper! Too much Toastmasters! I thought YOU planned for me to be free – less time to “do” – more time with YOU! Oh no! My garden is overrun with grass – my delay resulted in a lawn with vegetables!! Oh no! We have a new Church bookkeeper, but she needs my time for orientation! I thought YOU gave me June 30 to close my church computer!! Now my Toastmaster Club needs a lead Officer with knowledge of our software! All three eligible officers are newbies without know-how!  Oh no! It’s time to train my Toastmasters!! Wait a Minute LORD!  I need Guidance — YOUR Connections!! Thomas the Big Guy (spouse)  suggested hedge clippers for the garden.  It’s a slow process, but it’s working! The new bookkeeper agreed to train via ZOOM. We should be able to make it quick

GOD BLESS AMERICA

GOD BLESS AMERICA! It was the year 1812; Louisiana had just been added as the 18th state. The Northwest Territory consisted of Part of Minnesota, and all of the modern states of Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan. We were a small nation — suffering growing pains. The British did not yet fully accept that the new nation could stand on its own. They identified the potential wealth! They were seizing American ships on the high seas and forcing seamen to join the British navy or merchant navy. They seized our ships bound for Europe if the ships failed to stop at a British port, but the French confiscated ships that first stopped in Britain. America’s export business was just getting started, Britain and France each wanted to be the sole trader. The British and the French were fighting the Napoleonic Wars – neither wanted the US to sell to

The Answer – 2

The Answer – 2 I grew up in ultra conservative Hillsdale, Michigan – home of the esteemed Hillsdale College. In High School, I took a business course, but as a Senior, in 1964-65, I signed up for Mr. Ketro’w class — college prep English. Mr. Ketrow was the smallest teacher in the building with the biggest reputation for being both tough and terrific.  His voice and personality would better fit a man twice his size.  He made everything interesting for me, but I remember two things the most: If our answer was less than audible, Mr. Ketrow would bellow, “Not more than 10,000 people heard that.  Help the rest of us, Miss Bradley! Be aware of the propaganda promoted by politicians and media as though it were fact! Think about it!! (He was ahead of his time – “Fake News”.)  He taught to beware of opinions and promises! Critical thinking
